CWAJ Japan Graduate Scholarships 2025 For International Students:
The ¥2.0 million CWAJ Japan Graduate Scholarships 2025 are now accepting applications from overseas students. Graduate-level programs in any subject offered at the College Women’s Association of Japan are eligible for the award. The scholarship application deadline is October 7, 2024.
Established in 1981, the Non-Japanese Graduate Program (NJG) offers scholarships to non-Japanese women enrolling in PhD programs at Japanese universities to fund their graduate studies in Japan. The NJG has helped female students from more than 50 nations since its founding.
Scholarships are given out according to a candidate’s academic standing, the strength and viability of her research project, and her capacity to improve society. Eligibility Criteria:
In order to qualify for the CWAJ Scholarship, candidates need to:
- Have a feminine identity.
- Not be a citizen of Japan but not a permanent resident of the country.
- Be enrolled for the full scholarship period, which runs from April 2025 to March 2026, in a PhD program in a graduate school of a Japanese university.
- Live in Japan as of the application deadline and through the end of April 2025.
- Possess no more education than a bachelor’s degree from Japan (apart from brief language study).
- Not be eligible to receive more than ¥1.5 million in scholarships from any other program while the CWAJ Scholarship is in effect. Awards and financial aid from the applicant’s university might not be restricted in this way.
- Have never received a scholarship from CWAJ before and not be a member of CWAJ.
Criteria for Ineligibility:
- Those who are enrolled in school or employed overseas are not eligible. Candidates must have a permanent address in Japan at the time of application.
- Members of CWAJ and past winners of prizes are ineligible.
