  • Nationality and Place of Residence: Only Chinese citizens who plan to return home after the fellowship is over are eligible to apply.
  • Professional Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant experience working in the energy industry. This covers those who are employed or enrolled as PhD candidates as of right now (not include PhDs from universities in the UK, EU, or USA).
  • Academic Requirements: You must have a postgraduate degree in a related discipline, or an equal level of professional training.
  • Employment Restrictions: Within the last two years of the application date, applicants cannot have been employed by or related to His Majesty’s Government, the FCDO, or other designated UK government bodies. Additionally, candidates may not possess two nationalities, if they only have one of them being British.
  • Employment with Chevening Partners: Candidates who have worked for Chevening Partner organizations within the past two years are welcome to apply, but they are not eligible to get a partner award from their linked company.

Furthermore, recipients of scholarships previously awarded by the UK government are also eligible five years after the conclusion of their previous award. Candidates must show that they have advanced professionally and shown leadership in their industries since winning their prior prize.
