The Minderoo Foundation, on behalf of Andrew and Nicola Forrest, donated $65 million over a ten-year period to create the Forrest Research Foundation (‘the Foundation’) at The University of Western Australia in 2014. Their donation aims to draw the next generation of brilliant minds to Western Australia, helping the state become a global hub for innovation and research. In order to encourage and support exceptional post-doctoral researchers in their early careers to conduct top-notch research at a university in Western Australia, the Forrest Research Foundation offers research fellowships.

Those selected to be Forrest Fellows will be exceptionally talented and resourceful individuals who have attained the greatest level of academic success and have the capacity to positively impact the world. They will support the development of Western Australia’s potential for world-class research and innovation.

Additionally job contract at a university in Western Australia must be held in tandem with the Fellowships. The employment contract will include provisions for the general objective of the Forrest Research Foundation, which includes ambassadorial activities and the mentoring of Forrest Scholars. Eligibility Criteria:

The following criteria must be met in order for an applicant to be eligible for post-doctoral fellowships from the Forrest Research Foundation:

  • English is the language that is required.
  • All nations across the world are eligible.
  • Applicants must be in their final year of a PhD programme or no more than two years post-dissertation to be eligible to apply.
  • Forrest Hall must be the applicant’s primary residence during the Fellowship.
  • The intention of an applicant to be a Forrest Fellow must include mentoring Forrest Scholars, serving as an advocate for the Forrest Research Foundation, and exercising leadership within Forrest Hall.
  • The Candidates must fulfil the requirements of the designated university for employment eligibility.

Application Process:

  • The research group or department where an applicant wants to conduct their post-doctoral research must be contacted. They they must get direct assurance that a senior member of the academic staff would mentor their work.
