Doctoral scholarships:

Documents Required :

Following are the documents applicants are required to submit while applying for the scholarship:

  • Complete and correctly filled out application form, along with the applicant’s personal data and CV, motivation for applying, motivation for studying the chosen subject, an outline of his/her political interests and social commitments, and an outline of the Ph.D. thesis project (for doctoral students only).
  • A copy of the applicant’s university admission exam, Abitur or bachelor. If necessary, attach a certified translator’s translation in English or German.
  • If an applicant has already begun studies, he or she must present a list of study certificates to date.
  • Foreign applicants seeking a master’s degree must present a verified copy of their first degree certificate (with an English or German translation if necessary). Applicants must additionally provide an explanation for their grading if it differs from the German method.
    Student enrolment certificate
  • A representative of an organisation or institution provides a 1-2 page reference on the applicant’s social commitment.
  • A 1-2 page expert reference written by a university/college lecturer or a school teacher (for secondary students). Applicants for doctorate scholarships must submit two expert recommendations.
  • Doctoral students are also expected to submit a detailed description of their research proposal.
