Eligibility Criteria:
In order to be eligible for the IMB International PhD Programme, applicants need to meet each of the conditions listed below:

- English is the required language.
- All nations across the world are eligible.
- Information about your degrees (MSc, BSc).
- Information on any additional post-graduate degrees, honours, prizes, or distinctions (description, no more than 250 words).
- Information about any research stays conducted overseas while studying.
- Specifics of previous scientific endeavours.
- A list of your papers (in PubMed format, no more than 300 words) and conference contributions (including the presentation title, date, and venue).
- Which groups—up to five—you would like to collaborate with. Note that not every group offers projects for every call.
- A 300-word maximum motivational statement outlining your scientific objectives, reasons for interest in the IPP, and the groups you have selected.
The following PDF documents must be uploaded, according to the request:
- Curriculum vitae (up to 3 MB in size).
- One file, with a maximum size of 4 MB, that includes: –
- Completed university coursework.
- (includes transcripts of records and qualification certificates)
- A certificate from an English language test, if one is available; not required.
- A high school diploma, if one is available.

- Register online by providing at least two referees’ details and your own contact information. Senior scientists, including group leaders or professors at a university or research organisation, should serve as referees. These referees need to be familiar with you.

- You will receive an email with a link to your customised online application form as soon as you register. This link can be found at the conclusion of an application guide. You will be asked to submit the papers and information on the application form.
- We strongly urge you to gather the required information before starting, as the form cannot be saved. Then, when needed, texts can be pasted into the form. English must be used to complete the application.

Interview days.
- The 24–26 June 2021 shortlisted students will be called to Mainz for interviews. The interviews will take place over the course of three days and will include presentations by the applicants and the group leaders in addition to in-depth interviews with the group or groups you could potentially work with. The IPP pays for lodging and travel expenses, including international travel.
