Professional mathematicians are requested to suggest exceptionally gifted and driven students from developing nations who intend to finish their doctorates in any developing nation, including their own.

The grant can cover a maximum of USD 10,000 each year for the IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowship Programme:

  • Whole cost of tuition.
  • Expenses for lodging.
  • Expenses associated with travelling to the host institution (if it is not the home nation).
  • Basic living costs that are determined by the cost of living in the nation where the student is pursuing their doctorate.

  • The nominee’s statement
  • Duplicate passport scan of the student (nominee).
  • Official notification of pre-admission to the doctoral programme.
  • Total proposed expenses budgeted.
  • CV of a PhD supervisor.
  • Investigation Project.
  • Two recommendation letters, none of which may be from the nominee.
  • Course transcripts (certified copies, such as those with the university’s seal) belonging to the student:
    • Bachelor of Science degree or its equivalent.
    • An MSc or comparable degree.
  • CV of the nominee.
  • The student’s research study, motivation letter, and future goals are all included.
  • Declaration of the nominee.
  • PhD Supervisor’s statement.
  • Declaration of Nominee (Student).

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowship Programme, an applicant needs to meet each of the standards listed below:

  • English is the language that is required.
  • All nations across the world are eligible.
  • It is not possible for students to apply for the fellowship.
  • Professional mathematicians, including those who have retired but still serve as mentors to younger pupils. It is ideal if the nominee has received mentoring from the nominator.
  • The student needs to be a resident of a developing nation and a citizen.
  • It is required of the student to either have already been accepted into a doctoral programme at a university or research institution based in a developing country, or to have been pre-accepted to join one in the first academic year following the time of selection.
  • The student’s age is not restricted.
  • It is highly suggested that female students be nominated.
  • The fellowship will be approved for one year at a time and renewable once a year, subject to the awardee’s good progress. It will end when the awardee completes the doctorate programme or four years have passed, whichever comes first.
