JUNG Stiftung Germany Career Advancement Scholarship 2025 For International Students:

The Jung Career Advancement Award 2025 application period is now open, as announced by the Jung Foundation for Science and Research. This esteemed prize provides a considerable grant of €210,000 to finance a research project over a three-year period. It is intended to support the upcoming generation of medical professionals.

The prize is intended for medical professionals who are finishing their residency training in Germany after completing at least two years of scientific research, preferably overseas. The chosen study needs to be carried out at an academic hospital in Germany. The Jung Career Advancement Award:
  • A three-year research project can be supported with a grant of €210,000 from the Jung Career Advancement Award. Funds must be used in compliance with Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) standards.
Payment:
  • There are two equal installments for the grant payout.
  • The Scientific Advisory Board’s approval of an interim report is a prerequisite for the release of the second volume.
  • Requests for payment of the second installment may be made no later than five years, but at least eighteen months after the project’s inception.

Eligibility Criteria:

Conditions:
  • Medical Professionals: Candidates should have at least two years of experience doing scientific research, ideally overseas.
  • Scientific Achievement: Applicants should be able to provide a track record of their scientific accomplishments.
  • Return to Germany: In order to finish their residency training, applicants must be going back to Germany.
  • Host Institution: An academic hospital in Germany will host the work.
  • Clinical tasks: The recipient of the award will be released from clinical tasks for a minimum of one year following the award ceremony.
  • Time Allotted for Research: After the first year, the grantee will have sporadic time allocated for research for a total of two further years.
  • Selection of the Host Institution: When submitting an application, candidates are not obliged to name the host institution. After winning the award, the institution will be selected after consulting with the Jung Foundation.

Selection Criteria:

  • Scientific Advisory Board: Candidates will be chosen by the Jung Foundation for Science and Research’s Scientific Advisory Board.
  • Final Selection Round: Three candidates at most will receive invitations to a face-to-face interview in Hamburg.

  • Optional: Send a PDF certificate of residency training in pathology, clinical microbiology, or laboratory medicine, if appropriate. (Subjects like immunology, pharmacology, and epidemiology that are preclinical or theoretical are not eligible.)
