Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships 2025 For International Students:

TU Delft offers a number of scholarships to deserving applicants from throughout the world. Funding for the Justus and Louise Van Effen Excellence Stipends comes from their ancestry. During his studies at TU Delft in the 1940s, Mr. van Effen strongly believed that advances in technology may aid in the resolution of societal issues. In order to encourage and provide social support for exceptional global MSc students who aspire to teach at TU Delft, the Justus & Louise van Effen Foundation was established. Financial Benefits:

Benefits of the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarship include the following:

  • Around €30.000 per year for Non-EU/EFTA students.
  • Around €11.500 per year for EU/EFTA students.
  • Full annual tuition fees for a Master’s programme at TU Delft, calculated using the institutional rate or statutory charge dependent on the registered nationality, as well as a living expense contribution.
  • Access to workshops, seminars, and personal growth with membership in the Scholarship Club.

Documents Required:

Together with all the standard paperwork needed to apply for an MSc programme:

  • Upload the Application for Scholarship.
  • In accordance with the necessary papers, upload two reference letters (in one PDF document). Two recommendation letters in Dutch, German, French, or English. These recommendation letters have to be from an assistant professor or former instructor. If you have professional expertise, your employer might have written one of these letters.
    • Written on professional business letterhead and bear the university’s or company’s official stamp.
    • Endorsed by the referee and bearing your full name
    • Is your referee reluctant to send the letter to you? After that, they can send  contactcentre-esa@tudelft.nl.a scanned PDF of the letter. The email from him/her needs to contain your full name and student number from TU Delft. This number will be sent to you when you register on Studielink. If you select this option, you will need to upload a statement telling us of your decision under the “reference letter” section of osiaan.tudelft.nl. Included in your statement should be your referee’s name and email address. Please be aware that non-EU/EFTA applicants must, if necessary, submit their English proficiency exam with their application. Students from EU/EFTA countries may submit this document at a later time in accordance with the admission guidelines.
    • Upload the English test: Please be aware that students who are not EU/EFTA nationals must, if necessary, submit their English test with their application. Students from EU/EFTA countries may submit this document at a later time in accordance with the admission guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to qualify for the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships, applicants need to meet the following criteria:

  • English is the required language.
  • All nations across the world are eligible.
  • Outstanding international applicants accepted into one of the two-year Regular MSc degrees at TU Delft, subject to certain conditions.
  • With a cumulative grade point average (GPA) in their bachelor’s degree from a university outside of the Netherlands that is well-known worldwide and at least 80% of the scale maximum.
