NATO Defense College Fellowships 2025 For International Students:

International students can apply for the NATO Defence College Fellowship to study research in Italy. Currently, the NATO Defence College provides eight fellowships annually in the field of defence and security policy studies related to NATO and its allies.

Encouragement of research and policy analysis in areas of particular interest to NATO members and other countries that fall under the purview of the Partnership for Peace (PfP), Mediterranean Dialogue (MD), and Other Military Cooperation (OMC)/Partners Across the Globe (PAG) frameworks is the goal. Since the program’s inception in 1993, the College has awarded 109 scholarships in total, up to and including 2017.

The mission of NATO Defence College is to conduct research and academic studies to advance the Alliance’s overarching goals.

The main goal is to advance policy analysis and research in areas of specific interest to nations participating in the Partnership for Peace (PfP), Mediterranean Dialogue (MD), Other Military Cooperation (OMC) / Partners Across the Globe (PAG) frameworks, and NATO Member States. Financial Benefits:

The following advantages are offered to recipients of NATO Defence College Fellowships:

  • A stipend will be provided to each Fellow to cover the cost of their travel and accommodations while in Rome.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to qualify for NATO Defence College Fellowships, candidates need to fulfil the necessary requirements:

  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English at a very high level is necessary.
    • While not required, knowledge of French and/or Italian would be beneficial.
  • Countries that participate in the Partnership for Peace (PfP), Mediterranean Dialogue (MD), Other Military Cooperation (OMC) / Partners Across the Globe (PAG) frameworks, as well as NATO member states, are eligible.
  • Applicants must be computer savvy and possess a solid working knowledge of either French or English.
  • Requirements for English Language: Very high skill in the English language is needed. Although not necessary, knowing French and/or Italian would be beneficial.
