Eligibility Criteria:

    • Within the first nine semesters of your PhD programme, with the exception of any semesters that were already financed.
    • Applicants for semesters 7 through 15 who are directly joining a PhD programme from a bachelor’s programme (without a master’s thesis) may be qualified for a master’s research scholarship prior to applying.
  • Following a PhD:
    • Submitted your thesis by January 15, 2024, or obtained your PhD within the last two years.
    • Your PhD and postdoctoral research must be done at distinct universities.
  • Short-Term Analysis and Improvement:
    • Option A: A college or technical student.
    • Choice B: Scholar who has finished their PhD within the last five years.
    • Research for a short period of time needs to be done somewhere other than the school you are currently enrolled in.
  • Exemptions:
    • With sufficient explanation, maternity and parental leave extensions may be allowed for a maximum of 12 months.

Application Process:

Step 1: University Preselection:

  • Internal Deadline for: July 15, 2024
    • Move Quickly! By July 15, 2024, your application must be received by your university department.
  • Speak with your department:
    • To begin the application process, get in contact with the appropriate department at the Quebec university of your choice. They will walk you through their own set of rules and regulations.

Step 2: Final Selection of FRQNT

  • Academic Institution Nomination: Your university will send your application to the FRQNT by September 13, 2024, if it is chosen.
  • Review by the FRQNT: The shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a final application after the FRQNT has reviewed the preselected applications.
