When their external scholarship funding expires, PhD students who earn Tri-Agency scholarships will get a 4YF stipend and tuition support until the completion of their fourth year of study. They may also be eligible for 4YF tuition coverage.
- When their external scholarship money expires, other significant external scholarship recipients who are chosen as 4YF designates will receive a 4YF stipend and tuition support until the conclusion of their fourth year of PhD study. They may also be eligible for 4YF tuition coverage.
Application Process:
To apply for the University of British Columbia Four Years Doctoral Fellowship Programme, please follow these instructions:
- In order to be eligible for funding through the Four Year Fellowship, students must first apply to be admitted to the relevant graduate programme at UBC.
- Every PhD candidate who is accepted is automatically eligible for 4YF support.
- There are a set number of Four Year Fellowships awarded annually to each graduating programme. Graduate programmes evaluate both new and returning students before awarding Four Year Fellowships to the top candidates, with incoming students receiving preference.
- Graduate programmes send a signed University Award Recommendation Form with award number 6456 to the Faculty of Graduate Studies indicating which candidates have been selected for a Four Year Fellowship.
- The sum of the prize does not need to be disclosed.
- At least eight weeks prior to the desired start date of the fourth year of study, recommendation forms must be filed.
