VUB Scholarships for European Master of Science in Photonics

  • Several full scholarships of 10,000 euros a year will be awarded by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel to students enrolled in VUB’s European Master of Science in Photonics programme. It is anticipated that this scholarship will cover living expenses associated with studying in Brussels. Each application will be evaluated for quality and motive.

B-PHOT Excellence Scholarship scheme 

  • Three 1000 euro entry scholarships will be awarded at the start of the first semester of the master’s programme. The three students with the highest rankings based on our selection criteria are the recipients.
  • The top three students based on their academic standing following semester one will receive three 1500 euro continuation scholarships at the beginning of the second semester of the first year of the MSc. The Continuation Scholarship will also be given consideration to students who were not awarded the Entry Scholarship.
  • At the beginning of the MSc’s second year, one 5,000 Euro Excellence Scholarship will be given out.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the VUB Scholarship, the applicant needs to meet each of the requirements listed below:

  • All nations across the world are eligible.
  • English is one of the required languages. Language prerequisites for students from overseas:
    • within the last two years, a minimum score of 570 on the paper version of the TOEFL or 87 on the online version
    • a valid IELTS “test report from” (TRF) with a minimum overall band score of 6.0 that was provided as recently as the preceding two years.
    • English proficiency certificate (FCE) from Cambridge-ESOL.
    • Those with certifications in secondary or post-secondary education from Flemish Community institutions permitted to certify language proficiency are exempt from this requirement.
    • Additionally, if you have successfully completed at least one year (60 credits) of secondary or tertiary education where English was the primary language of instruction, you are exempt from taking the language test (you will need to show an official certificate to prove this).
    • Note that rather than missing the deadline, you can choose to submit the APS certificate or proof of English competence at a later time.
