The grant amount is 200,000 CHF to cover the doctorate students’ wage costs for three years. ETH academics support the fourth year of PhD study, as well as research-related expenses. Also apply for (Fully Funded) ANU International Research Scholarships 2024-25 in Australia

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The general entrance requirements for doctoral studies at the ETH Zurich1 and the respective department must be fulfilled.
  • Experience in the selected research area is required.
  • Candidates must be citizens of low- and lower-middle-income countries according to the OECD DAC-2024-25 list classification

Documents Required:

  • CV of the candidate
  • Excellent MSc degree from a recognised university and grade transcripts
  • Support letter of the supervising professor at ETH Zurich
  • 2 reference letters from your field of research
  • Relevant own publications or documentation of relevant activities relating to the project
  • List of 5 independent reviewers (same field of research, but unknown to candidate and professor)
  • Bibliography

Application Process:

The application method consists of two steps.

First step

The candidate sends the Concept Note Application Form 2024 to the E4D programme office via email at e4d@sl.ethz.ch. Only concept notes that meet all of the parameters listed will be considered and evaluated by the ETH4D Committee for Exchanges for suitability in the second step. The deadline for submitting concept notes is April 30, 2024.

Second Step

Candidates whose concept notes are accepted by the E4D committee develop a detailed proposal with the professor who has agreed to supervise the project.If the candidate and professor do not know each other, they must schedule a meeting to go over the entire proposal. This meeting might take place both in person and online.
