Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2025 For International Students:
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme is offered to international students who want to complete their doctoral studies in Hong Kong, China. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, established in 2009 by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC), aims to recruit exceptional students from all over the world to study PhD programmes at Hong Kong universities.
For up to three years, each awardee will receive an annual salary of HK$325,200 (about US$41,690) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,600 (approximately US$1,740). 300 PhD Fellowships will be awarded for the 2023/24 academic year. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme for International Students offers the following benefits:
- An yearly stipend of HK$325,200 (approx. US$41,690)
- Each awardee will receive a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,600 (about US$1,740) per year for a maximum of three years.
- The RGC does not charge an application fee for the HKPFS. However, universities may impose application or processing fees.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme for International Students, you must meet the following requirements:
- English is the required language.
- All nations on the planet are eligible.
- Applicants seeking admission as new full-time PhD students in Hong Kong’s UGC-funded universities, regardless of country of origin, prior job experience, or ethnic background, should be entitled to apply.
