Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate must meet each of the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for the Shanghai Government Scholarship:
- Language Requirements: Generally speaking, applicants must meet the HSK4 level in Chinese as well as the language requirements of the university and programme they are applying to.
- All nations in the world are eligible, with the exception of Chinese nationals.
- Candidates need to be in good health and non-Chinese citizens.
- The pre-college programme requires applicants to be under 23 years old and to have completed high school.
- Candidates for the bachelor’s programme must be under 25 and have completed high school.
- Candidates for the master’s programme must be under 35 years old and hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Candidates for the PhD programme must be under 40 years old and hold a master’s degree.
- Exceptional in terms of academic achievement.
- Fulfilling the program’s and the applied university’s admission standards.
- A candidate is not eligible to apply for SGS if they have already been awarded any other scholarships from Chinese government agencies or organisations.
- Candidates for the master’s programme must be under 35 years old and hold a bachelor’s degree.
Application Process:
To apply for the Shanghai Government Scholarship, please follow these detailed guidelines step-by-step:
- The applicant needs to register and submit an online application at http://study.edu.sh.gov.cn/en/ise.html. Fill out the online application and get the form.
- Through the chosen university’s website, the applicant must register and submit an online application (a list of universities is provided above). Fill up an online application and pay the application cost, if necessary.
- Once the online application has been submitted, download and print the form. Send the university where you applied two sets of hard copies of your application materials—one set of originals and one set of photocopies.
- Verify that your email address is correct, and periodically check your inbox to avoid missing any important notifications.
- Your application’s outcome will be disclosed on the International Students’ Office website bulletin board as well as in your application account.
- When registering on the dates specified in the admission letter, admitted students are required to provide their original diploma and certificate of graduation. If the necessary credentials are not provided, your enrolment will be terminated.
