BUTEX Sustainability Abroad Scholarships 2024 For International Students:
With the launch of the Sustainability Abroad Scholarship, BUTEX is happy to announce the availability of applications for the 2024 scholarship programme. This grant, which is available from May 16 to July 10, supports undergraduate students from BUTEX Full Member universities who will be participating in work, internships, study abroad programmes, summer school, or traineeships in 2024. The £500 scholarship, which aims to build a network of committed people committed to sustainable practices both locally and globally, encourages students to engage deeply with global environmental challenges and exchange creative ideas. The scholarship focuses on promoting sustainability and fostering global cultural understanding.
Furthermore, a special £500 award in memory of the late Treasurer Tony Emmerson will be given to a deserving student of American Studies. A BUTEX member institution must be the applicant’s home institution, they must be enrolled in their undergraduate programme at the time of application and award receipt, and they must be doing or have completed a qualifying placement. - Every scholarship has a £500 value. upon the winners have enrolled and arrived at their host university, or upon confirmation of a placement that has already been done, would they be paid?
- Additionally, BUTEX will present the Tony Emmerson Award as a special tribute to our late treasurer. If a student studying American studies wins this competition, they will get the scholarship. There will also be a £500 award for this.

Undergraduate students like you are eligible for this grant, but there are a few things to think about:
Who is eligible to apply?
- You have to be a BUTEX member university undergraduate student enrolled. Not sure if your college is included in the list? Take a look at the list they offer!
- When participating in a study abroad programme, you can be an incoming or outgoing student.
- The job, internship, traineeship, or study abroad/exchange programme, as well as the summer school programme, must have occurred (or be occurring) in the same calendar year that you are applying for the scholarship.
- Programmes for studying abroad must last either a year or a semester. Placements for work, internships, or traineeships may be for any duration, but they must be abroad.
- When you apply for and are accepted into your undergraduate programme, you must be enrolled full-time (graduate students are not eligible).

This scholarship offer is only valid for assignments taking place in 2024. In order to apply, you must respond to the following inquiry and select the format in which you wish to offer your response:

- Travel & Sustainability: Discuss ways that travel can be environmentally friendly.
- Eco-Friendly Actions: List the measures you have taken, or intend to take, to reduce your environmental impact while travelling.
- UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Describe how your actions support particular UN SDGs.
- Contribution to a Cleaner Environment: Emphasise how your actions help to create a cleaner environment.
- Select the Format of Your Response:
- Compose a creative piece in the shape of a poem, tale, interview, or other writing style.
- Poster Design: Create a visually striking poster that communicates your ideas.
- Make a video blog on YouTube where you discuss your ideas and deeds.
