The American University of Sharjah makes sure that eligible students can receive the most education possible without being prevented from doing so by their ability to pay. It is urged of all students, regardless of colour, gender, religion, or country of origin, to apply for financial aid and grants. For undergraduate students, the university offers a large selection of grants and scholarships. Graduate students can also apply for work-study and graduate assistant ships.

Financial Benefits:
Undergraduate Scholarships
- The Chancellor’s Scholars Award provides 75–100% funding for tuition, lab fees, and housing; the Merit Scholarship covers 10–30% of these costs.
- Sharakah School Scholarship provides 45 percent remission for tuition, lab/technology fees, and on-campus housing (shared for people of all gender, single and double for men only).
Masters Scholarships
- Graduate Assistantships (GAs) are offered by the office of the programme coordinator and include up to 9 credit hours of tuition waiver every semester in addition to a salary of up to AED 20,000.
PhD Scholarships

Eligibility Criteria:

Undergraduate
Award for Chancellor’s Scholars:
- Send in an essay describing your extracurricular pursuits, skills, involvement in social events, and expected impact on AUS.
- Exceptional character traits and aptitude for leadership in the community and at school.
- Literary or scientific contributions to society.
- Unique prizes or honours from the community or school.
- Extracurricular activities in school and community service.
- A minimum of 95 percent on final three years of secondary school, or the equivalent own little financial resources.
Merit Scholarship:
- Academically competent candidates with a high school GPA of at least 90% in two of the most recent three years or in their final year of secondary school.
Sharakah School Scholarship:
- Shown exceptional character traits and leadership skills in the classroom and community.
- Have produced literary or scientific contributions to their local community.
- Received significant recognition or prizes for involvement in extracurricular activities at school and in the community
- Attained a minimum high school average of 90 percent or above in either (1) the last two of the last three years of schooling, or (2) the secondary school final year.
Masters
- Possess fulfilled all prerequisites for full admission at the university and programme level, or surpassed them, to be accepted in good standing. Keep in mind that students who are probationary or on conditional status are not qualified for a GA.
- Keep your cumulative GPA at least 3.25. Certain graduate programmes have newer, more stringent requirements.
- Register for and finish nine credit hours of graduate courses, or be registered for thesis credit, to become a full-time GA. Register for and finish six credit hours of graduate courses, or be registered for thesis credit, to be eligible for part-time GA.
PhD
- Have fulfilled or surpassed all university and program-level prerequisites for full admission in order to be admitted in good standing.
- Enrol in and finish at least six credit hours for each semester of study.
- Uphold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 while enrolled in AUS’s PhD programme.

Undergraduate Scholarships Application Process:
- Award for Chancellor’s Scholars: June 15, 2023 is the deadline for newly admitted students to apply for this scholarship for the fall semester of 2023.
- Merit Scholarship: When an admissions application is processed, a merit scholarship is immediately awarded. No more application is needed.
- Sharakah School Scholarship: Every academic year, by the end of the first week of July, schools have till to choose/nominate an applicant and send the recommendation to AUS.
Masters Scholarships Application Process:
New Students

- By the application deadline, you must submit a completed Application for Graduate Admission, marked in the box asking for consideration for an assistant ship, pertinent transcripts, and two reference letters to the Office of Enrolment Management.
Ongoing Students

- The Provost, acting via the Office of Graduate Studies, has the final say over GA appointments.
PhD Scholarships Application Process
- In order to be considered for a PhD programme, applicants must fill out the PhD Assistantship Application Form and upload it.
- The Provost, along with the Office of Graduate Studies and the PhD programme coordinator, makes the final decisions regarding GA appointments.
