International students from the following nations are eligible to apply for this scholarship:

  • In Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, DR Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
  • In South America and the Caribbean: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, Peru.
  • Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam.
  • In Asia: Palestinian territory.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates that meet the requirements must:

  • Possess citizenship in one of the 31 nations mentioned above, and you must presently live and work in that nation.
  • Hold one of the following:a degree from a Belgian institution that is 300 ECTS credits short of a 2nd cycle diploma and is good for master’s and continuing education programs.
  • A degree acceptable for specialisation baccalaureates that is equal to a first cycle diploma (180 ECTS credits) from Belgian higher education.
  • Possess a minimum of two years’ worth of pertinent work experience in a nation that is an ARES partner.

Application Process:

Use the GIRAF site to apply online by doing the following steps:

  • Establish or Access Your Giraf Account: You must first establish a Giraf account if you don’t already have one. You can use an account you already have that ARES has validated.
  • Get to the Application Form here: Choose “Application for international training” to navigate to the application form. Next, pick “My tasks” and then “Competitive calls.”
  • Fill out the form: Complete the application. You can save your work and come back to finish it at a later time. The form is available under “My tasks” under “Competitive calls.”
  • Submit Your Application: Click “Submit my application” once your application is complete. Your file will be available for evaluation in the “My submitted files” section after submission. Be aware that the application cannot be changed once it has been submitted.
