Eligibility Criteria:

  • English is the required language.

You are ineligible for a scholarship from Chevening if you:

  • Possess dual or British citizenship (unless you are applying from Hong Kong and are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or you hold BN(O)).
  • Possess refugee status in a nation that is not eligible for CHEVING. Candidates are eligible for a scholarship if they are nationals of a nation that qualifies for Chevening and if they are recognised as refugees in a nation that qualifies for Chevening.
  • Work for Her Majesty’s Government as an employee, a former employee, a relative* of an employee, or have been employed by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, the Ministry of Defence, the Home Office, or British embassies/high commissions within the last two years since Chevening applications opened.
  • Applying is open to current and past employees of Chevening Partner organisations as well as their relatives*. However, if employment occurred within the last two years, you are not eligible to receive a Chevening Partner Award from the company you currently work for, were previously employed by, or are related to through.
  • Have previously received financial support from a UK government scholarship to study in the UK.
