Financial Benefits:
The following advantages are offered to recipients of the PhD programme at the Gran Sasso Science Institute:
- For the first year, all PhD candidates will receive free lodging at the guest house. After that, they will receive a financial equivalent worth 350,00 euros gross per month (which will be paid following the production of a rental agreement in L’Aquila).
- Free lunch vouchers will be provided to all PhD candidates (one per working day, excluding school closures, missions, and other circumstances as defined by the GSSI regulations).
- Tuition fees for all PhD candidates will be waived, and they will all be insured against any accidents or injuries that may arise while pursuing their degrees.
- A contribution of up to 1.200,00 euros (net) may be made by any PhD candidate towards the cost of a laptop for research and study. Upon production of the fiscal receipt made out to the applicant, the contribution will be paid.

Eligibility Critetria:
The following prerequisites must be met in order for an applicant to be eligible for the PhD programme at the Gran Sasso Science Institute:
- English is the language that is required. English proficiency is required.
- All nations across the world are eligible.
- Candidates holding one of the following degrees are eligible to apply:
- A four- or five-year degree known as a “Laurea Magistrale” or “Laurea Specialistica.”
- A degree from a foreign university (minimum legal course duration: four years).
- The Selection Committee evaluates foreign degrees to determine their eligibility.
- A copy of the applicant’s degree certificate must be sent to phd.secretariat@gssi.it.
