Italian Government Scholarship 2024 For International Students:

According to Law 288/55 and its ensuing amendments and additions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) seeks to advance international cultural exchange, scientific and technological cooperation, Italian language and culture, and support Italy’s economic system globally. Scholarships are available to study, train, and/or conduct research at publicly and legally recognised Italian Higher Education Institutes.

Financial Benefits:

Italian Government Scholarship winners are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Medical and Health Insurance
    • For the term of the award, recipients will be protected by a health and medical/accident insurance policy that MAECI has contracted. Insurance does not cover events arising from a person’s pre-existing medical conditions or pathological disorders.
  • Fees for tuition
    • Grantees may be exempt from paying enrollment or tuition costs, subject to the restrictions of each university.
      Italian language and culture courses require enrollment fees; there is no exception.
  • monetary award
    • As a monthly allowance, grantees will receive quarterly payments totaling 900 euros sent to their Italian bank accounts.

Eligibility Criteria:

The requirements for international students to be eligible for the Italian Government Scholarship are as follows:

  • English is the required language.
  • Students from qualified international nations are eligible.
  • With the exception of renewals, candidates for Master’s degrees, Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) programmes, and Italian language and culture courses must not be older than 28 by the call deadline.
    Only international students who do not currently reside in Italy are eligible to apply.
  • With the exception of renewals, applicants to PhD programmes should not be older than 30 before the call’s deadline.
  • There is no proof of Italian language competency needed for courses that are delivered entirely in English.
  • The age limit for applicants to research projects under faculty supervision is forty years old by the call’s deadline.
  • Under this situation, candidates need to present a language competency certificate in English. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) minimum level needed is B2.
  • Admission to the first year of an Italian Master’s degree programme requires that applicants have completed a Bachelor’s degree in their native country. Also they will be granted entry to the second year of the study if they can provide proof that their first year of studies is going according to schedule.

Other Eligibility

  • Candidates taking courses in Italian language and culture must submit a certificate of fluency in the language.
  • The bare minimum required, as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), is A2.
  • Admission to an Italian AFAM Institute is contingent upon meeting the entry and academic requirements specified by the relevant university or institute.
  • In order to be considered for admission to a PhD programme in Italy, candidates must fulfil the prerequisite academic requirements set forth by the university and submit an acceptance letter from the relevant Italian university.
  • Under the academic supervision of public universities or museums and archives, grants may be given for research projects conducted at Italian research institutions (such as the Italian Research Council, CNR; Italian National Institute of Health, ISS; Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics, INFN; Italian National Institute for Astrophysics, INAF; and The Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, ISPRA).
