Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships 2025 For International Students:

Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang, popularly known as KNB Scholarship, is a prestigious scholarship program offered by the government of Republic of Indonesia to selected applicants originating from developing countries. Managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, the scholarship has been disbursed since 2008 to 1,290 recipients from 94 countries.

The role of KNB Scholarship, has been central in supporting Indonesian higher education institutions in their endeavour for internationalization. Benefits of Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships include the following for the recipient:

  • New students will get a Settlement Allowance of IDR 1,250,000 when they arrive in Indonesia;
  • The new students will only receive a Living Allowance of IDR 2,550,000 per month while enrolled in the Indonesian
  • Language course and preparatory programmes; KNB students will receive a monthly allowance schedule as follows during the Master Programme:
    IDR 2,550,000 for living expenses; – IDR 400,000 for research; – IDR 350,000 for books;
  • A health insurance policy with a monthly premium cap of IDR 200,000 (the student is responsible for any discrepancy between the amount the insurance covers and the actual cost of medical care);

Documents Required:

  • A letter of recommendation from the Indonesian Embassy in that nation.
  • Letter of nomination from the appropriate government official (Ministry of Education, another relevant government agency, if the applicant is employed by that agency, or the Indonesian Embassy of the applicant’s country of origin);
  • Two letters of academic recommendation;
  • Scanned birth certificate or passport (personal data page only);
  • Academic transcripts and a scanned copy of the bachelor’s degree (in English);
  • A certificate of scanned results from the TOEFL or other English proficiency tests taken within the last two years;
  • Official Medical Statement (Official Diagnose) scanned and prepared by a licenced medical professional.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be qualified for Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships, candidates need to fulfil the subsequent requirements:

  • English is one of the required languages.
    • Undergraduate: Possess the following score on the English Proficiency Test: IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 700, and IBT TOEFL of 80.
    • Masters: At least an 80 on the IBT TOEFL, a 6.0 on the IELTS, or a 700 on the TOEIC (the certificate needs to have been achieved within the last two years).
    • Doctorate: 90 TOEFL IBT or 7.0 IELTS or equivalent (the certificate must be received within the last two years) on the TOEFL or IELTS (or other approved English Proficiency Test).
  • All nations across the world are eligible.

Undergraduate

  • The maximum age is twenty-five.
  • Have a high school diploma (please include an English copy of your transcripts and degree certificate). Please be aware that holders of master’s degrees are ineligible to apply for the award.
  • To apply for the KNB scholarship, submit the reference letter from the Indonesian Consulate General or Embassy.
  • Obtain a letter of recommendation from your employer or direct supervisor in order to apply for the KNB scholarship.
  • Give a letter of academic recommendation from a prior school.
  • Evidence of citizenship, such as a personal ID or official passport.
  • Fill out the application online.

Masters

  • A person can only be 35 years old.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (please send an English copy of your transcripts and degree certificate). Please be aware that holders of master’s degrees are ineligible to apply for the award.
  • Possess a minimum of an 80 on the IBT TOEFL, an IELTS score of 6.0, or a 700 on the TOEIC (the certificate needs to have been received within the last two years).
  • To apply for the KNB scholarship, submit the reference letter from the Indonesian Consulate General or Embassy.
  • Obtain a letter of recommendation from your employer or direct supervisor in order to apply for the KNB scholarship.
  • Give a letter of academic recommendation from a prior school.

Doctorate

  • The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.
  • Own a master’s degree (please include an English copy of your transcripts and degree certificate). Please be aware that applicants with doctorates are not eligible.
  • Get a letter of recommendation from the prospective research supervisor from a university that is a KNB Scholarship partner.
  • Give a statement of purpose that briefly explains the goal of the study, the reasons behind the student’s desire to study in Indonesia and pursue the research topic they have chosen, as well as their future academic goals.

Application Process:
