University of Lausanne Scholarship 2025 | UNIL Scholarship For International Students:

International students interested in pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, during the academic year 2025–2026 can apply for UNIL Master’s Grants. Every year, UNIL awards about 10 scholarships.

Masters scholarships are excellence awards given only to individuals with exceptionally excellent academic standing who have completed their degrees from overseas universities. The University of Lausanne in Switzerland offers the UNIL Master’s Grants to overseas students on a competitive basis. Benefits of the University of Lausanne Scholarship include the following:

  • The scholarship is awarded for the minimum legally required time frame of the student’s selected curriculum. For the whole course of the masters program—one and a half years or two years, depending on the chosen masters—it amounts to CHF 1,600 per month from September 15 to July 15 (or 10 months a year), with the exception of cases of decisive failure after the first year.
  • Applicants are informed that the amount of the scholarship awarded does not cover living expenses in Switzerland.

  • Scholarship recipients will not be required to pay the course’s set registration fees, with the exception of the CHF 80.00 required each semester.

Applications for the following programmes are not accepted:

  • Master from the School of Medicine
  • Master of education
  • Master of Law from the Universities of Zurich and Lausanne
  • Master of criminal Law, magistracy specialism
  • Master of Science in Physical Education and Sports Didactics
  • Master of Science in Health sciences
  • All MASs (PhD programmes)

Documents Required:

  • A JPEG-formatted passport-sized photo uploaded to the application.
  • The application, properly filled out and signed.
  • A certified copy of your academic credentials and any grade transcripts from university exams taken.
  • A duplicate of your high school certificate. Diplomas not written in French, German, English, or Italian must be translated into those languages by a certified or notarized translator.
  • A copy of your bachelor’s degree programme description from the last semester, if one hasn’t been earned yet.
  • A duplicate of your identity card or passport.
  • A letter of cover.
  • A comprehensive resume.
  • A copy of the official certification of proficiency in the language taught to the master (DALF or DELF for French, and TOEFL or IELTS for English). The minimal level needed to complete the course is B2.
  • Two authentic reference letters, included in sealed envelopes, from the candidate’s instructors.
  • Evidence of payment for the CHF 200.00 application processing and administration charge

Eligibility Criteria:

The following criteria must be met in order for the candidate to be eligible for the University of Lausanne Scholarship:

  • Language Requirements: French or English
  • All nations across the world are eligible.
  • To have made a name for yourself while you were an undergraduate, particularly with excellent grades.
  • To have completed a bachelor’s degree at a foreign institution that UNIL recognised comparable to a bachelor’s degree before the master’s programme at UNIL started.
  • Not to have already registered with UNIL.
  • To speak French or English at least at a level B2 (based on the European Language Portfolio worldwide scale), depending on the language you are doing master’s course in.
  • To have settled the CHF 200.00 handling charge.
