The Kellogg Institute Visiting Fellowships for 2025–2026 are available to foreign students wishing to study for doctorates and postdoctoral degrees in the United States. Since 1983, the Kellogg Institute for International Studies has supported interdisciplinary global studies by providing visiting scholarships within a supportive academic community. Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be considered for a Kellogg Institute Visiting Fellowship, candidates need to fulfil the following requirements:

  • Bright junior and mid-career researchers (usually assistant or associate professors and postdocs)
    distinguished senior scholars with a track record of academic distinction.
    Seasoned journalists, policymakers, and other professionals whose expertise can bridge the gap between academia and policy
  • The Institute will support candidates with a Ph.D. or its equivalent in other disciplines under extraordinary circumstances.
  • The Institute accepts applications from distinguished academics and professionals without a doctorate.
  • Graduate students in advanced ABD are eligible to apply, although fellowship awards are conditional on the completion of a doctorate prior to the start of the fellowship.
  • It is necessary to have advanced English language proficiency.
  • Foreign nationals must be able to get a J-1 Visa and possess a valid passport.
  • The Institute will support candidates with a Ph.D. or its equivalent in other disciplines under extraordinary circumstances.

  • Along with completing the Institutional Required Information Form (IRIF) and Visiting Fellowship Application Form, a complete application will have the following files uploaded through the online application system:
    • Cover letter outlining your desired length of stay and expressing your interest in the fellowship
    • Curriculum vitae
    • A statement of the research project (6–10 double-spaced pages)
    • Project Summary (maximum of 150 words)
    • A succinct bio of 200–300 words
    • Three recommendations, along with an email address.
