MEXT Scholarship 2025 For International Students:

Under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships Programme, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan provides scholarships to foreign students who want to study as undergraduates or research (master’s / PhD) students at Japanese universities.

The MEXT Japanese Government Scholarship application cycle is typically issued in April. It is not required to have taken the IELTS or TOEFL in order to be eligible for this award. This scholarship has been recommended by the Mext Embassy. Your application will be processed by the Japanese embassy in your nation. Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate must meet each of the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for the MEXT Scholarship:

  • English is the required language.
  • All nations across the world are eligible.
  • The nationality of a nation with diplomatic ties to Japan is a requirement for applicants.
  • A candidate who at the time of application held Japanese nationality is ineligible.
  • Regarding Undergraduate Scholars: You must have finished 12 years of formal education or courses in a school equivalent to a high school (including future graduates) and be at least 17 years old and under 25.
  • For Masters/PhD Students: You must be a college graduate (including aspiring graduates) and under 35 years old. Alternatively, you need to have finished 16 or 18 years of school.
  • For students enrolled in teacher training programmes: You must be a recent college or teacher training college graduate and under 35 years old. You must have worked as a teacher in a primary, secondary, or teacher training college in your nation for at least five years.
  • The age range for applicants to the Japanese study programme is 18 to 30. Upon arrival in Japan, applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students in faculties or schools with a focus on Japanese language or culture at a university outside of Japan. Upon their return home, they must maintain enrollment at their home institution.

  • Fill out the MEXT scholarship application form that you have downloaded.
