Humboldt Research Fellowship 2025 For International Students:

Highly competent foreign scientists and scholars who have recently started their academic careers and who finished their doctorates less than four years ago can spend six to 24 months conducting research in Germany thanks to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

The research outline is carried out in cooperation with academic hosts at research institutions in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of research and their host in Germany. Details of the research outline including information on the intended duration of the fellowship must be agreed with the intended host before applying. Eligibility Criteria:

In order to qualify for a Humboldt Research Fellowship, candidates need to fulfil the necessary requirements:

  • German or English is required.
  • All nations across the world are eligible.
  • A doctorate or a similar degree that can be earned in no more than four years (PhD, CSc, or equivalent).
  • Academic works published in journals or by publishing companies after undergoing worldwide standards evaluation.
  • A mentorship arrangement, a thorough expert’s statement from an academic host at a German research institution, and confirmation that research facilities are accessible.
  • Evaluations from experts, particularly those who are not employed by the applicant’s own institution, such as the PhD supervisor and another academic qualified to provide well-founded feedback on the applicant’s qualifications.
